ヒロイン失格 (Heroine Shikkaku) - Chapter 10
This chappie is very wordy and due to lack of time, i'm did not do a full translation but still i did most of it. Hope you don't mind.
Moe in teary eyes says: "I think i might have fallen for Terasaka kun."
Hatori can't believe what she just heard: "Wait a min! Aren't you suppose to be supporting me?"
Moe: "I'm sorry. My head understands that i am not suppose to like him. Even now i know that i cannot like Terasaka kun....
... but i was happy when i'm with him. When we chat time seems to fly."
Hatori: "Wait.. wait... wait... so you've kissed Rita?"
Moe: "There is no reason for me to do such things to betray Hatori chan."
Hatori's thoughts "Isn't this already a kind of betrayal?"
Moe: "However, Hatori chan, when Terasaka kun looks at me, i really did think about kissing him."
Hatori: "You are all up and ready to betray me, don't you? I'm angry, it's not right for you to like the person whom you friend likes. It's the worst."
Moe: "I know but i don't want to lie about my own feelings. It's alright that you don't forgive me."
Hatori's thoughts "What is that? She only thinks about herself."
Kousuke let out a laugh. He was hiding and eavesdropping on their conversation, he thinks that it's amusing.
Kouskue said that's the usual Moe and not that she likes Rita in particular. She enjoys and feels a sense of satisfaction liking friend's boyfriend.
Kousuke continue teasing Hatori saying that Moe is not someone who will let her target off easily. Hatori rebutted that Rita will not fall into Moe's trap so easily. Kousuke then replied saying that because Hatori is Rita's childhood friend and they've been together since young thus Rita does not see her as a woman. Even if Rita says he likes her, he is not going to take any actions however, things will be different if it's Moe. (I seriously wonders Kousuke's motive)
Hatori thinks that Rita is not such a casual person and she decides to confirm her thoughts and she asked Rita: "What do you think about Moe?"
Rita: "Big boobs."
Hatori: "Not about that, i'm asking if she's your type?"
Rita: "Neither, i don't think i'm good with her."
Hatori is pleased with Rita's answer.
Rita: "Aren't you feeling cold? Revealing your shoulder and all."
Hatori: "I can borrow your jacket if i'm cold."
Rita: "I've just lent it to Moe."
Htori: "huh? You've lent her? I thought you said you aren't good with her?"
Rita: "I don't know. She asked me and so i lent it to her."
When Hatori thinks that Moe is unforgivable she saw a neo print with Moe's face on it on Rita's mobile.
Hatori: "Why is Moe's print on your mobile?"
Rita: "She paste it just now."
Hatori: "Take it off now!"
Rita: "Why are you so troublesome today?" and he walks away. (I think that's what he meant, i don't really understand that phrase)
Hatori recalls Rita mentioned that he's not good with a girl whom later became his first girlfriend and she hurried to tell Adachi that Moe is targeting Rita and that the distance between them is drawing closer.
Adachi: "Eh? Moe? The girl from the other group?"
Hatori: "Yah! This is bad. What are you planning to do?"
Adachi: "Erm... nothing."
Hatori: "HUH?? What are you saying? You boyfriend is going to be snatch away! You should tell Rita not to be too close with Moe!"
Adachi: "It's Moe's freedom to like anyone. I have no right to stop her."
Hatori: "What are you saying? Aren't you the girlfriend? That gives you the right!"
And Hatori stops and thinks for awhile "If Adachi has the right, that means it's the end for Moe and me as well. Oh no, she realised."
Adachi: "For me, its alright as long as Terasaka-kun still remembers me."
It daunts upon Hatori that Adachi is like a real perfect heroine! While for her, even though she thinks that she is the perfect heroine, she wants to get rid of anyone who's obstructing her. She lost to Adachi.
The scene changes Hatori's group getting ready for hiking and Moe comes running over wanting to join them as she's not comfortable with her own group. Hatori displayed a disgusted face but Adachi said: "Sure! Let's hike together." Hatori goes ==" and Moe sticks beside Rita immediately.
Moe keeps on talking to Rita about this person, Sakai whom is their common friend and hatori thinks "All she talks about are things which only the both of them know." Adachi questioned if Sakai is their common friend and Hatori pulls her away, not wanting her to be part of their conversation when it suddenly hit her that she can't give up being a perfect heroine. She asked a whole of of question about Sakai showing interest in this common friend of their trying to counter attack Moe. (It's one of her plan or something)
Moe: "Are you interested in Sakai?"
Hatori: "Eh? No i didn't say that."
Moe: "You did! I can introduce to you anytime!" and she turns towards Rita and said: "They might turn out to be compatible!" (Now i see, Sakai is a guy!)
Rita looks at Hatori and let out a laugh: "Haha, perhaps."
Hatori is pissed and she thinks "I'm not going to forgive you, Moe!"
Hatori: "Moe-chan. You are 'that', aren't you? This is not the first time you tried to snatch away a friend's boyfriend right?"
Moe: "You heard that from Hiromitsu?
Hatori: "You will end up with no friends if you keep on betraying them."
Hatori is feeling thrilled that she said it straight in to Moe's face.
Moe: "I'm sorry that i've caused you to be worried about me that i don't have friends." Hatori is shocked hearing Moe's reply.
Moe: "About that, i know. Even though i know, i can't ignore my feelings. Knowing my own feeling and losing my friends, does it cause trouble to Hatori-chan? Terasaka kun does not belong to Hatori-chan and if Adachi san were to say that, Hatori-chan is equally guilty. Hatori-chan only thinks about herself even though you know this very well before saying those words to me. "
Hatori's thoughts "What is this? Even though i think she is weird but why does her words sound so true?"
Moe is teary eyes cried: "Why? When did i become hated by everybody?" and this caught Rita's attention as he just happened to walk past them.
Hatori turns around and saw Rita: "I didn't say that!"
Moe: "You did!"
Rita: "How old do you think you are to be bullying your friend?"
Hatori's thoughts "I'm done."
Nakajima came looking for Hatori to go for fright walk together but Hatori rejects her. She's crying and feeling sad about what happened in the afternoon when Adachi walks in.
Adachi skipped fright walk too giving excused that she's not feeling well (She sneaked about without letting Rita know) and Hatori is shocked that Moe is going to pair up with Rita. She screams at Adachi: "What are you doing? What are you thinking?"
Adachi: "Wait, i have my reasons. Moe told me she needs to tell Terasaka her feelings no matter what and that's why she wants some private time with him."
Hatori: "I'm going to disturb them. What is this? Is it alright for you if she confess to Rita?"
Adachi: "I believe in Tersaka-kun."
Adachi: "I believe in the time we spent together."
Hatori's thoughts "The time which i don't know."
Adachi: "I have no confidence at all and i'm feeling very insecure about it however, if i like someone i need to trust the person. That is why if Tersaka-kun chooses Moe in the end, there is nothing i can do about it."
Hatori in disbelief: "OMG, is this a joke?"
Hatori: "I'm not letting anyone snatch Rita away and i will snatch him back from you...
... why are you Rita's girlfriend. I don't understand the meaning of trust. Because i like him i feel insecure and that is why i cannot trust. There nothing more to talk about. I going to obstruct them. Like how Moe said, i am someone who only thinks about myself and i don't about Moe's feeling but if you are going to be the perfect heroine, i am going to be villain."
and she left her tent running to disturb Moe and Rita. However, Rita is nearby and not only did he see her he heard her too as she was speaking way too loud.
Rita is here to look for Adachi.
Rita: "Adachi, i heard you aren't feeling well."
Adachi: "Terasaka kun, I'm sorry to have made you worry but i'm feeling better now after going to the toilet. I'm sorry for not letting you know and came back myself."
Rita: "I'm going out with Moe...
... that's a lie." Adachi is too shock to even react.
Rita: "I said it's a lie."
Adachi tearing: "Why did you lie?"
Rita sticking out his tongue: "I will keep a distant with her (Moe)." and he places his arms over Adachi (still crying): "I'm sorry already." and he thinks "What part of me am i good to Hatori?"
Hatori: "Huh? You don't like him?"
Moe: "Yup! When i was chatting with him, only the two of us... i thought.. eh? He seems different from how i imagined him to be."
Hatori: "But i thought you confessed to him?"
Moe: "Nope, i didn't."
Hatori: "I thought you are all over him and was so sure that he's the one."
Moe: "But he told me he has Adachi." Moe apologized to Hatori saying that she will be on Hatori's side supporting her if not she can introduce Sakai to Hatori.
Hatori's thoughts "This is because of all my hard work. (Adachi in Rita's arms) Hatori seems devastated and she received an text which contains Sakai's email add and thinks that maybe she should give Sakai a try. Hatori really did consider this option when she read Sakai's mail a few days later according to Nakajima.

OMG, this chapter is so confusing! I don't know what to think. I'm still very angry with Rita because he really is a jerk to Hatori. Hatori may be a high-strung drama queen, but she is his childhood friend (it seems like his only friend) who has stood by him all these years, and he shows no kindness towards her at all. Even if Adachi is a "perfect" heroine, I still can't stand her. She is like a cardboard cut-out, not a real person with genuine, human feelings and motivations. She's impossible to relate to or empathize with.
One question, when Rita is thinking about Hatori while holding Adachi, what is the meaning of the phrase, "what part of me am I good to Hatori?" I wasn't clear on the translation. Is he realizing he's acting like a jerk?
But, at this point, I'm seriously doubting that Hatori will end up with Rita. She may even end up alone, since the mangaka seems to find her unhappiness funny. I hope not, because I really feel bad for Hatori and am tired of seeing her jerked around like this.
Oh, and I meant to say...a very big "Thank you" for doing this summary! I didn't expect it to be up this fast, and was so excited to see it. It really made my day!

"But if you are going to be the perfect heroine, I am going to be villain." This sentence was awesome! >.< Hatori, you're definitely my heroine! Seriously,that sentence made me love her so much! I wonder how Rita managed not to fall in love with her instantly. But just after that, we saw him with his cheeks flushed. I guess that's already a great reaction for someone as inexpressive as him.
Otherwise, I don't really know what to say about this chapter neither. I'm feeling really sorry for Hatori. I still think Rita doesn't deserve her. He's too passive in my opinion. But Kousuke didn't play a very important role so far so I'm wondering if he will be that important in the story. As you suggested, he may be just another supporting character.
The only good news is that Rita was probably thinking about Hatori at the end of the chapter, which also means that he isn't particularly moved when he touches Adachi, otherwise he wouldn't be able to think about another girl at the same time. So he probably doesn't like her that much... I'm still wondering why he's going out with her. She's so boring! And she's not even cute or pretty...

I don't like Hatori. I don't blame Rita for not liking her. She has a really lousy personality. I have a hard time wanting to cheer her on. :( (Thanks for your hard work! I'm curious enough about this series to keep reading, even if I don't like the main character. I like her friend, though, Nakajima?)

So, Rita is wondering what Hatori sees in him? Hey, Rita, guess what - a lot of us readers are wondering the exact same thing! He seems to be with Adachi because she makes no demands on him, so it takes no effort on his part whatsoever. I do wonder why he lied to Adachi about pairing up with Moe; was he trying to see if he could make her jealous?
I can understand how someone may find Hatori hard to like; she is definitely a flawed character. But I guess I just see her as so desperate and pathetic, I can't help hoping she gets herself together. I am glad she dropped that "perfect heroine" act, which was very annoying. She needs to be more honest with herself from now on. I do hope that Hatori will mature over the course of the series, and become a better person.

I hate Rita
I'm getting annoyed with Hatori (because she needs to have nothing more to with Rita, he'll hate to be ignored, think woman!)
I like Moe though, I don't know why...
I hope this new guy is hot and she REALLY starts liking him.

I she does end up with Rita it better not be in the last chapter, I want to feel his love for her (which I have yet to see -- just some minor jealousy).
I want Rita to be in pain -- he has never felt it because he doesn't care about his girlfriends (Adachi included).
Not really understanding the Adachi hate. She's a lot like the girl in Kimi no Todoke - the perfect heroine - and goodness knows everybody loved her.
Not really understanding the Rita hate, either. So he's not attracted to his childhood friend. But he still cares about her. Is it so bad that he's concerned about both his girlfriend and his friend? Does that make him a devil?
Not understanding the Hatori hate. She's imperfect, and she's an idiot - which is why she's so damn likable in the first place. But her feelings for Rita run deep, and, yeah, she's pathetic and she makes mistakes....
What sets this manga apart from all the other tasteless shoujo manga is that nothing is so simple. It's not the usual "we are destined to be with each other no matter what" kind of storyline. Every chapter doesn't end with the girl being rescued by a guy who then declares his undying devotion. This manga is pretty refreshing, IMO. So thanks to the... um, I don't your name, but thanks for the summaries and the pics. Even if there is no "happily ever after" ending this manga is worth reading.
@plucky-- we hate them because they aren't doing want we want, obviously! Haha! I do understand your feelings and if you look at my earlier posts you will see that I was defending everyone (but Adachi because she's in the way).
I guess I don't like Adachi because the author doesn't give me a real reason to like her. It's like the mangaka wrote her part to purely be an obstacle...
Rita has earned my hate because he truly is aloof to everyone, including his gf Adachi.
I honestly don't hate Hatori, I just feel she is too interesting of a character to be stuck on some guy that doesn't concern himself with her feelings.
I like Moe still, and I still don't know why...
I really liked this chapter because i could feel that i wasn't supportive of Rita anymore. From the beginning i wanted to see Rita and Hatori being a couple and i was cheering for Hatori to get together with her fabulous childhood friend/ first love (even tho it's one sided) but now all i see in him is a plain dull guy that she has been friend with for a long time, and who has find his plain dull girl friend (Adachi) to be with.
When Rita and Adachi were hugging (when Hatori saw them) i thought "okay, you two stay together, Hatori deserves more than that..."
