DEAR - Chapter 9 (Finale)

It's their graduation from high school and they are having the traditional archery match.

Commentator: "She is Rei, the ex-president and she is coming in the 2nd place."

Commentator: "Coming in 3rd place is Banri, who suddenly just joined the club. In fact, he had experience with archery. Why did you not join archery in high school?"
Banri: "Because i want to go out with girls"
Commentator: "Ah, the girlfriend is here to..., is that quirky answer alright?"
Yukari: "Ah.. it's alright. It's a kind of disease for some kind of breed. I believe in him."
Banri: "I'm sorry.. Yukari."

Commentator: "Next up, it's the ex-vice president and he is clenching the first place! One who is good both physically and academically. Moreover, he's going to take over the family temple. Why are you only the vice-president when you are better then Rei, the president in all area?"
Kazusa: "Don't you know that the one being in the second place is the one who has the ability to keep things going on smoothly?"
Commentator: "The weak point of this man?"

Student: "Congratulation on your graduation! Thank You!"

Student: "Senior, i will be so lonely."
Rei: "I will still be here so i will come visit often."
Kazusa: "Thank you for your hardwork."
Rei: "In the end, i've never beated Kazusa in the three years. Have i improved?"
Kazusa: "You did. Did i say anything wrong?"
Rei: "Nope."

Rei and Kazusa being lovey dovey at one side.
Yukari: "People really do change over 1.5yrs."
Banri: "It's tiring to see even for me as their childhood friend."
Other student: "I can't bring my self to look at them."

Kazusa, holding Rei in his arms: "This is of course."
Other student: "It's like his efforts finally paid off."

Rei: "Everyone, take care!"

Rei's thoughts "And we graduated from high school...

... The school that i'm used to going to. To bid goodbye to friends and close ones..."
Banri: "Kazusa, what time is your train"
Kazusa: "2pm."
Banri: "What is this? Isn't it soon? You are going to Kyoto directly? In order to take over your family temple and to under go training, you will be staying in the mountains and not able to meet your family for 3 to 5 years? It is not an easily decision."
Kazusa: "I've made this decision long ago, that is why."

... and i'm not going to be able to meet Kazusa for quite some time."

Yukari looks at Rei: "Rei...

... I'm going to the introductory session for the school of nurse. The both of you will be alright. Childhood friends' bond are strong and beautiful. I'm a little jealous."
Rei: "Thank You, Yukari."
Banri: "Rei! Yukari and i will leave first, anything you want me to bring back for you? I'll be an extra to follow you guys home. The both of you, take your time."
Rei: "Thank you, Banri."

Yukari and Kazusa eyes met: "Please work hard."
Kazusa: "You too and take care."

Rei: "Yukari is going to a nurse and are you planning to just work part time?"
Banri: "It's decide. I'm going to conquest the world's wave! I hope to see more of the world."

Rei's thoughts "From today onwards, everyone is moving towards their individual goals. Feeling both happy and lonely, an strange feeling. Lonely... Ah no ne, Kazusa, there is something i hope you can listen to me and not laugh at me. I...

... Kyahahah... i'm feeling nervous! I can't face him! Baka, there isn't much time left."

Banri: "Hey, take care and i saw... the ring you bought 2 to 3 days ago."
Kazusa punches Banri and asked: "Rei! did you hear anything?"
Rei: "? no."
Banri: "I'm sorry! Please forgive me. It's impossible for me to win against you."

Kazusa: "Be serious! My heart can't take it."
Banri: "Don't tell me you are feeling nervous? You"
Kazusa: "You are being noisy! We are just 18 yrs old kids and i'm making my an important choice of my life in choosing someone important to me. It's natural that i'm feeling nervous."
Banri: "You are being so serious."
Kazusa: "That of course. Take care of Rei when i'm not around."
Banri: "Okies. See you soon."

Banri: "Rei! He bought a ring for you! Do you know what that means?" and he grabs Yuakri and ran for their lives leaving Kazusa all flushed.
Kazusa: "Rei... "

Rei: "When you are back.. can i have the ring? I like Kazusa! I've been thinking... "

Rei's thoughts "Kazusa and i are having the same feelings. Since the day i've replied Kazusa, i've decide to be with him everyday after that and to love him...

... i can't imagine my future with Kazusa then to feel insecure because we need to be separated... and that is why... that is why... " Kazusa hugs Rei tightly in his arms.

... even though we hold hands and walk together. We kiss and hug. I still feel that it's totally insufficient and that is why i need to make a promise....

... a promise that i really love very much."
Rei: "Kazusa?"
Kazusa, blushes: "I'm not being cool at all. You've said it all. Both you and Banri One looks his best when one put in all his efforts. That is why Rei is good. Since a long time ago and from now onwards, i will only like Rei...

... i promise no matter what. You must accept it. During the time when you are having negative feelings you can't run away. Let's tie a note with our fingers."

Rei recalls Kazusa and herself tying their fingers when they were young saying 'i promise'.
Rei: "It's been a long time since we tie our fingers."
Kazusa: "Yup. We've done this before a long time ago."
Rei: "Isn't it great to be like how we are saying 'i promise' This time too, you will keep our promise right?."
Kazusa: "Have i broken any of our promise?"
Rei: "Nope."

Rei's thoughts "We are born during the same time in time same street. We've met because we are childhood friend...

... regardless, we are able to put in effort for the future that we've promised. To have you by my side, since a long time ago and now too, i'm able to become stronger and that i why i will be waiting here, the place where you will be returning to...
Rei: "Take care on your way."
Kazusa: "I'm going."

... the place where i've spent time with you."

Rei: "You've mixed up the boarding time for our honeymoon trip? On top of that we are boarding the plane on the same day as our wedding ceremony?"
Kazusa: "Even though you are used to travelling. It's unbelievable that there is someone's whose learning ability still seems to be worse then word processor."
Banri: "Yes... yes... yes... It's all my fault! I will listen to your scoldings later as for now, let's hurry!"
Yukari: "The three of you, please look in front for now."

Rei: "Are we allowed to board the plane like this?" (Rei and Kazusa are dressed in Japanese traditional wedding costume while Banri and Yukari are dressed in western wedding gown and tuxedo.)

It's the traffic police again and he says: "It's you guys again!"
Banri: "We are going off to the airport first!"
Kazusa: "We are going to speed up! Hold on tight!"
Rei: "Okies!"

Rei's thoughts "Occasionally, i thought about it when i'm in this town. It's alright to feel insecure and afraid. We are moving forward in this important place since the day we made that promise. It's the same promise we made the other time. Regardless of how many years, we will be together."

That marks the end of this series. Honestly, i'm pretty disappointed, it's just too sudden and abrupt because this series has so much potential! I can just imagine it to be a 6 to 8 vol. Well, probably the mangaka has another better story on hand and can't wait to start on it. Her new series will be on the June issue of BetsuComi.

DEAR! - Chapter 8

This chapter starts with Rei and Kazusa at their club activity - Archery. It's the end of training and they are keeping the equipments.

The club members envy Rei's and Kazusa's relationship and they think they should be an item already if they aren't yet.

Rei: "Why am i the one losing again?"
Kazusa places his face close to Rei and calls her name. He then teases her saying that he's going to help out with keeping of the equipments. His actions startled Rei and she is flushed. She wants to hide the fact that she feels embarrassed but is having difficulty doing so.

Rei blushes as she recalls Kazusa saying: "There is no reason for me to give up on Rei and that is why from now onwards, I will not be merciful. Do you understand what i'm saying?" and her thoughts "How? During that time, I felt i was going to die from happiness. Why didn't i tell him?"

Kazua: "Rei."
Rei turns around and Kazusa plants a kiss on Rei's cheek leaving her to blush even more and he said: "Seems like i have plenty of chances....

Seems like i'm the winner for this too."
Rei's thoughts "What should i do? Whatever he's doing to me, i feel happy and i accept it naturally. I think i've really fall in love with Kazusa....

... even though so, i'm not telling him."
Rei asks Banri for advice on how to confess to Kazusa.
Banri: "Huh? What is this? 'I like you! I like you too!' that's all." isn't this good enough or do you have anything better? I have a date with Yukari." and Banri is leaving but Rei pulls him back.
Rei: "Wait a minute. Even though i think i've might have been exposed and Kazusa already knows about my feeling but the timing, i don't know when is good."

Banri teases her telling her to wear a white lace bra and wait inside Kazusa's bed. Banri: "It is clear that he is going to accept you thus you shouldn't think so much and just fly into his arms. If you understand, don't make him wait any longer."
Rei's thoughts "I undersand. This time....

... this time i will say it myself."
Banri: "Good luck and you can ask him out tonight for the tenth night festival."

Banri see Kazusa as he comes down from the rooftop. Banri: "Yo, if you are lookin for Rei, she's on the roof top. Do you know?"
Kazusa: "Yup, i know."
Banri: "She's troubled. Don't tell me you did it on purpose?"
Kazusa: "Yup."
Banri: "Don't over do it."

Kazusa: "My intention is to allow Rei to give some serious thoughts about me. I have no intention of making her troubled. Good things are worth the wait." Kazusa received a text from Rei asking him to the tenth night festival after club activity. Kazusa smiles to himself as he reads the text. While Rei still at the roof top thinks: "I need to let him know... Kazusa....

... there's something i need to tell you. Listen to me?"

Kazusa: "You'll get separated." and he held Rei's hand.
Kazusa: "It's crowded. This is the first time for us coming to this festival. It has always been the three of us." and all these while Rei's been thinking "How should i start? How should i tell him?"

Kazusa: "This might be the last night, i'll be leaving this place after graduating from high school."
Rei: "Oh yah, for your study, you need to go to other temple. It's ascetic practices. Since a long time ago, you said that you will be taking over your family's temple."
Kazusa: "Rei too isn't it? You are planning to major in management to help out your family's restaurant right?"
Kazusa met someone he knows, he let goes of Rei's hand to make small conversation with them. Looking at Kazusa, Rei's thoughts "Since a long time ago, we've been talking about our future and i knew it all along but...

... I can't imagine without Kazusa who has been staying by my side so naturally. There will be a distant between us and we can hold hands as and when we want to. I'm feeling lost."
Kazusa: "Rei? Wat heppened?" while Rei seems to be deep in her thoughts.
Rei's thoughts "If i don't tell him now, we can't move forward."

and she hugs Kazusa and said: "Thank You. Thank you for staying by my side." and her thoughts "I want to tell you for. I want to respond more but i'm sorry, i can only think of these. Words aren't enough, how should i let you know? Kazusa."

Rei: "Kazusa, i like you." and she kisses him.
Kazusa, with the brightest smile up until now: "I know...

... and i was waiting." and he hugs Rei tightly in his arms.
Rei: "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting. I've made you wait so this time round, i'm going to wait for you." Rei's thoughts "He made such a smile..."

Rei: "Even thought we need to be separated, you need to return to where i am. "
Kazusa: "I understand." and he leans forward wanting to kiss Rei but Rei stopped him.
Kazusa: "Are you planning to make me wait? I've thought about it, for such kind of thing (kiss), isn't it alright for you to give it to me?" Kazusa give a sly grin while Rei blushes and

kisses him. *sweet*

Rei: "It's true that i can't win Kazusa."
Kazusa: "That's of course."
Rei's thoughts "I've conveyed my thoughts to him properly. Thank you for liking me."
Kazusa teases Rei: "Oh, this is bad, Rei is making such a cute face when i threaten you to kiss me. Can i threaten you one more time?"
Rei: "Kazusa...." continue to blush.

Omg~ this chappie is candy sweet overflowing! hahah. You must be wondering what's going to happen to their future since Kazusa and Rei are going to be seperated right? I guess nothing much is going happen because the next chapter is going to be the last chapter! Yes, no kidding here. You see the tiny words at the end of the chapter, it says "What's going to happen to their future? Next issue, a climax final chapter!" I mean there isn't going to be much twist in the last chapter. Probably it will be about Kazusa pursing his dreams and finally returns to Rei, takes over the family temple, marrys Rei at the temple, have kids and live happily ever after.

I'm feeling a tab sad. I thought there's more to this manga then deciding between two childhood friend. I thought Yukari is going to come up with some stunts or something and Banri can't suppress his feelings for Rei when Kazusa is away and Rei... maybe she will be faithful towards Kazusa or she's struggling between Kazusa and Banri again or stuff like that. So nothing that i've been hoping and imagining is going to happen and Banri, he's fine with Yukari? When the one he truly likes is Rei. Well, it does seems like he's fine with Yukari. argh~ why is this series ending so soon...

DEAR! - Chapter 7

This chapter starts with Kazusa and Banri working partime as rickshaw pullers.

Due to Kazusa and Banri's good looks, tourist can't stop taking photos of them and wonder if they are idols.

Seeing Banri and Rei bickering, Yukari: "It's great!"
Rei: "Huh?"
Yukari: "Many things happened over the summer vacation isn't it? Things seems to be ok now."
Rei: "Um."
Rei's thoughts "Summer is over....

... 2 more months and it will be Fall."
Rei: "I'm sorry to have made you worried. Thank You Yukari."
Banri: "Yukari, come her for a moment."

Banri carries Yukari on to the rickshaw. Rei saw them and thinks "The atmosphere is good when they are togther."

Kazusa: "The both of them look good togther."
Rei: "Um."
Kazusa pats Rei's head and Rei says: "I'm fine already. Even i'm shocked myself. It's kinda of unbelievable."
Rei's thoughts "They look so blissful when they are smiling together."

Rei: "When love begins, it's not something which i can control however, to let it good is. Thanks to everyone, we are able to face each other."

Rei's thoughts "Time passes at it's usual speed but something within me is changing little by little. The be able to come to agreement with my own feelings, i've might have grown up. Thanks to the smiling faces of people who are important to me."

Kazusa: "What do you wish for after working so hard? Isn't it great to have changed for the better?"

Rei: "Thank you for your hard work."
Banri: "We (Banri & Yukari) are going to grab a bite." and they left leaving Kazusa and Rei behind.

Rei: "Aren't they great? They are still so close even though we are in the mist of exam period."
Kazusa: "Are you going home straight away to study?"
Rei: "Um, though i feel kind of regrettable about it."
Kazusa: "Then... shall we go on a date?"

Kazsa brings Rei to ride the rickshaw.
Rei: "Ride this?"
Kazusa: "It's will be a great chance to have a chat."

The rickshaw puller took out a stool to assists Rei in boarding the rickshaw however, Kazusa told him that it's not necessary and he carries Rei on to it! Rei is shock and she attempts to push Kauza away but Kazusa assures her that it's alright. Rei blushes real hard and she thinks "I'm not as small as Yukari. Even though i've thought about going on diet recently but to be that light...."

Rei gets excited when she realized that the rickshaw can actually go at a pretty fast speed. Rei: "Woah! At this kind of speed?! The feeling is great!" Rei realize Kazusa looking at her and she asked: "Why?"
Kazusa: "Nope, it's nothing. Just that I've not seen Rei smiled like this the whole summer. That's why i think it's great."

Rei: "Actually, it's all thanks to Kazusa, always by my side regardless of how i am. I felt secured."
Kazusa grabs Rei's hand: "That's of course!"

Rei's thoughts "This is how Kazusa usually smile however, i feel like i'm meeting this person for the first time and i want to see him. Is it because we are doing something different from the usual now? ...

... our hands held so strongly that it makes my head feels dizzy."

Kazusa: "Shall we walk along the sea on our way back?"
Rei: "Um."

Yukari: "Banri - kun? What happened?"
Banri: "I'm sorry, i've just seen Rei and Kazusa. (on the rickshaw) Both of them are smiling."
Yukari: "This is your character....

... and that is why i wish to stay by your side."

Kazusa lets go of Rei's hand and Rei's thoughs "I wish to continue to hold hands. How do you think of me? ..

... how does Kazusa thinks?" and he holds Rei's hand again.
Rei's thoughts "My childhood friend. I wish to see the Kazusa which i don't know. More of him. How does Kazsa thinks of me?"
Kazusa: "The same time at this place...

... do you remember? You let me die miserably here."
Rei's thoughts "I've hurt Kazusa (here)."

Kazusa pull Rei close to her and kissed her! He kissed her so hard and so long and so passionately!

... that Rei gets out of breathe that she hit's Kazusa signaling him to stop.

Rei: "What is this?"
Kazusa pinches Rei's cheecks: "That is because you seems to be bothered over useless things (she rejected him). I'm different from you. I will not give up just because i'm rejected once."
Rei: "Eh?"

Kazusa: "There is no reason for me to give up on Rei and that is why from now onwards, I will not be merciful. Do you understand what i'm saying?"

Woohoo! I think i'm rooting for Kazusa now. He's fighting hard for his love and i love such man. hee. and Rei seems to be moved alittle by him. and the kiss... so passionate... so hot!
